Donny Football Hot Takes: #1 – Tampa Bay Repeats

By Donny Chedrick

This may or may not be a hot take depending on who you ask, but Tampa Bay is my Super Bowl LVI champion.

Tom Brady is going for his eighth championship — EIGHTH. CHAMPIONSHIP. As much as I’ve hated the guy over the years, that is simply incredible to think about. He would be going for his tenth if not for Eli Manning. To go along with Brady, the Bucs have reloaded like no team has ever before.

Every single starter on both sides of the ball return for Tampa Bay, making it the first time since 1979 that an NFL team has accomplished such a feat. The team is elite, in fact, they’re the best, and only got stronger going into the 2021 season.

An excellent offensive line with Ali Marpet, Ryan Jensen and Tristan Wirfs, superb receivers in the form of Mike Evans, Chris Godwin and Antonio Brown, a classic TB12 backfield featuring Ronald Jones II, Leonard Fournette and Giovani Bernard, and don’t forget the G.O.A.T at quarterback. The defensive side includes elite talent at all three levels. Vita Vea is turning into one of the league’s best nose tackles. The linebackers make an argument for the best group in Tampa Bay and the best LB unit in the league with Lavonte David and Devin White in the middle, and the edges covered by Shaq Barrett and veteran Jason Pierre-Paul. The defense is capped by two young defensive backs becoming a fine tandem over the top as Antoine Winfield Jr. and Jordan Whitehead hold down the safety position.

Don’t want to forget the team is led by Bruce Arians, an all-time epic football guy. This squad is built for a repeat and I think Tampa Bay and Tom Brady will raise another trophy in February.
