COMON Network Team Commentary

RYAN SIMPSON

  • Brubaker had the best start of his MLB career tonight. Longest start of his career, most Ks and he gave the Pirates a chance to win. I will continue to praise the work he has done this year. Early prediction for 2021, I think Brubaker is the #3 starter behind Jamo and Joe. I do not think Brault gets that spot and I don’t see Keller being the guy either. Brubaker has proven this season that its his spot to lose at this point.
  • Surprise surprise, the bullpen could not keep the game close and another very start/serviceable start was wasted. The Cubs’ stars are struggling this year despite being nine games over .500. Rizzo, Baez and Bryant all have OPSs’ under .725 this season; luckily this team is so deep that guys like Heyward, Happ, Bote and Kipnis can pick up the slack. Schwarber looked good tonight at the plate too with two RBIs.
  • Last thing about tonight’s game, there was a video of Bryan Reynolds saying he would like to play centerfield. Sorry chief, that ain’t it. Playing leftfield in PNC Park is actually a harder position than center based on the amount of ground you need to cover and based on how PNC Park plays. With Cole Tucker being the center fielder as of now, Reynolds needs to shut his mouth and know his role in left field.

Player of the Game – Kyle Schwarber
