Teddy Blueger scored the third Pens’ goal at 5:34 but Montreal scored three unanswered to win the game. Jonathan Drouin scored at 10:13, Paul Byron scored at 15:50 and Jeff Petry scored from an odd angle off Matt Murray’s shoulder at 5:33 of the third to win the game. COMON Network Team Commentary

  • “A 3-1 lead is the worst lead in hockey.” Isn’t that the damn truth? The Penguins took their foot off of the gas. It’s like they were driving 100 MPH on McKinght Road and they saw a cop and slowed down. It’s truly ridiculous.
  • I was wrong about Hornqvist. I’ll admit it. Totally wrong. He played great tonight.
  • I do not blame Matt Murray. He was playing fantastic. Then the ice titled in the Habs favor. He was making multiple saves. Just couldn’t gobble up the last one tonight. Price’s rebound control was great, when it mattered most. Now. Everyone knows I am stand behind Matt Murray. But Friday, Jarry has to be in net. Give him a shot. Hopefully he can steal one then back to 30 on Saturday since it’s a back to back.
  • This isn’t over. Crosby and Jake need to figure it out and start scoring. Nothing else to it. They knew what they were going up against. Adjust and find the back of the net.
  • Friday is Sidney Crosby’s birthday. He’s never played an NHL playoff hockey game on 8/7. The Pens are winning on Friday. I guarantee it. Let’s Go Pens.

  • 1st: Well, I guess all of Pittsburgh can shut up about the power play for a few games. Incredible pass by Geno to set-up Horny. Absolutely perfect. Zucker’s goal was an absolute snipe too. After being down one early, Pens rallied back, but the Habs look great too. They came out hot from the first puck drop.
  • 2nd: Well, its a new game now. My guy Teddy B with a geno which is good to see. Depth scoring. Byron follows up and gets one in as well. Murray didn’t have any help, but also should be hugging the post there. Not flopping around like a salmon in Alaska. Short memory, new game now.
  • 3rd: Jeff Perty is now public enemy #1 in Pittsburgh. Guy snipes from an angle that only few can score from. I think we see Jarry in game 4 now. Pens need a shot in the arm.

  • The Montreal Canadiens are the 24th seed in the playoffs. The Canadiens were 31-40-9, so 31-49 if you lump the OTL’s in as losses. The Penguins went up 3-1 in this game and let the worst team in the bubble back in it. I don’t care who you want to blame for the last three goals. That’s pathetic. Montreal fans are PISSED that their team has put the Pens on the brink. This shouldn’t even have been a series.
  • Carey Price stole the game after Montreal took the lead. When is the Penguins’ goalie, again, no matter who it is, going to do that?
  • Patty Marleau was a non-factor. He was a minus-3 in just over 10 minutes of ice time. Jack Johnson was a minus-3. Man does he stink. On a couple of the Montreal goals, you could find Johnson, Justin Schultz or another guy in white standing around doing nothing.
  • Hey look the powerplay scored twice. A couple of spikes in the flatline there tonight.
  • This team having its back against the wall is flat-out embarrassing. There’s no other way to put it.
